The assumptions are not about the Bible because when we come into this world and start learning it is not about the Bible.
Some may get up in arms over this and turn off at this point. I won’t stop you. But for those who are open they will realize that I am not talking about lowering the value of the Bible. What I am trying to do is to recognize the things we bring to the Bible in order to understand it. It is these presuppositions that frame our interpretation of the Bible and how we embody it. The problem is less the content of the Bible and the contents of our our thoughts, feelings, and habits. Alter these as we can see the Bible for the riches it contains. Keep them un-renewed and we will continue to live a life below God’s expectations.
Our basic needs are met by our parents when we are young. Food, clothing, shelter, hugs, etc. They may have been following a biblical principle, but that was meaningless to us. As we work through the basics and grow we are able to see the principles unfold before us and if we grasp them incorporate them into our lives. It is this process of incorporation that oniamai works on.
There is no better source on the God of the universe than the Bible. God however does not limit himself to the Bible in order to get His point across. Neither should we.
