Encourage yourself…imagination

In 1 Samuel 30:6 David encourages himself in the Lord when all around him are serious problems. David used this get him through the problem.

What does it mean to encourage yourself?

Here I want to concentrate on the imagination element of self encouragement. Whatever David did, he did internally. If he did it internally it involved some type of imagination. Perhaps he remembered what God had done in the past and saw himself in the picture. Perhaps he remembered God’s promises and imagined how they would apply to him to change his current condition.

It was in his imagination that David encouraged himself and was then able to pray in both knowledge and in faith and to receive an answer from the Lord.

Do not underestimate the power of imagination to change your situation.
